Jacob's Ladder
This week's featured flower is Jacob's Ladder! This perennial blooms from late spring through mid-summer. It has small bluish-purple flowers and grows best in partial shade. This particular variety gets to be around two feet tall and eighteen inches wide. The feather-like leaves are just as pretty as the flowers, so this plant is lovely even before it begins blooming. Some varieties of Jacob's Ladder have variegated leaves and some have white or pink flowers. Cats like the smell of this plant, so young plants may need to be protected in order to flourish. To learn more about about Jacob's Ladder, check out Better Homes & Gardens' Jacob's Ladder page, Wikipedia's Jacob's Ladder page, or the Jacob's Ladder page at Dave's Garden.

I really like those flowers. I don't know if I've ever seen them in person, though.
I love your cheese and lunch meat responses. They make me smile because I know you. ;)
I've been dying to try that cheese but have been having trouble finding it!
Jenni - Your answer for favorite nut cracked me up! And now I am craving pineapple. Yum! :)
Vampires and Tofu - I hope you are able to try Daiya sometime soon. It makes the yummiest nachos ever! It melts about a thousand times better than any other vegan cheese & has a great flavor. :)
Hopefully it will become easier to find as more markets hear how tasty it is. Right now the nearest store I've found is an hour away. Vegan Essentials sells it online if you can't find a store nearby.
Some of the pre-packaged foods that use Daiya cheese are really delicious too, like Amy's Vegan Macaroni & Cheeze.
Thanks so much for the mention, Violet! I can't believe it's book release month already!
I love apples too. I made apple pie yesterday, didn't even make it though the night.
Thanks for sharing my giveaway! And for telling us about the other goings on in the book world.
I also think I'm going to have to try out that cheese. My husband won't so I've not been eating much cheese. He has to have his Tillamook cheese :(
He also caught onto the fake meat I've been feeding him. It took him a few meals though so I'm happy that I found some ways to use it. It has to be heavily hidden under lots of other textures.
Beautiful flowers :)
I really need to get Fallen read, so I can get Torment.
