Flower Friday: Candytuft

Candytuft

Today's featured flower is candytuft!  This pretty evergreen perennial spreads quickly and blooms well year after year.  Ours is snow-white, blooms from late-April through June, loves full sun, and requires no special attention.  Candytuft can be grown from seed or cuttings, and the pink and blended varieties are also lovely.  You can read more about candytuft at Garden's AblazeDave's Garden.

A bit of book news from around the web:

1.  Novel Novice is giving away an ARC of Maggie Stiefvater's Linger (as well as a copy of Balladhere.  Ends 5/22.

2.  If you have kids under thirteen you may want to check out the Double-Dog Dare Summer Reading Program at Borders.  If your child reads ten books before 8/26, Borders will allow them to choose a free book (from a selection of ten titles).  The free book choices include Elizabeth George Speare's The Witch of Blackbird Pond, Carl Hiaasen's Hoot, and Beverly Cleary's Dear Mr. Henshaw.

3.  Barnes & Noble also has a fun Summer Reading Program beginning on 5/25.  Children in grades 1-6 can receive a free book (from a specific selection of titles) for reading eight books before 9/7.

4.  Want to read some awesome classics?  Project Gutenberg is a great resource for free ebooks.  They have thousands of titles available, including Pride and Prejudice, The Adventures of Sherlock HolmesJane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and Dracula.

Nikki-ann - Thanks for your comment. Candytuft is one of our favorites. :)

Candace - We've always participated in our local library's summer reading programs, but have never participated in a bookstore one so that should be fun. :)
